Job Posting: Administrative Financial Assistant
Part Time – FUMC Lexington
Weekly Schedule: Monday – Thursday 1:00pm – 5:00pm & Friday 8:00am – 12:00pm (20 hours per week)
The Administrative Financial Assistant position at FUMC Lexington requires a commitment of 20 hours per week, with responsibilities spanning various administrative and financial tasks. This position reports to the Pastor and Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC), and involves managing day-to-day church office operations and finances, supporting the Pastor and ministry staff, and maintaining effective communication.
Prospective candidates must align with The United Methodist Church’s mission, exhibit strong oral and written communication skills, and possess computer proficiency (including Accounting Software, Quickbooks, Microsoft Office). A self-starter with leadership abilities, candidates should hold a high school diploma or equivalent, undergo a criminal background check, and ideally have accounting/bookkeeping experience.
The role encompasses greeting visitors, answering calls, responding to messages and emails promptly, and managing church-wide communication. Administrative duties involve maintaining employee files, the membership roll, and accurate financial records. Financial responsibilities include processing deposits, updating giving statements, payroll management, and overseeing accounts payable and receivable. The Assistant also supports the Finance Committee in budget maintenance and financial reporting.
Other tasks include assisting the Pastor and SPRC with charge conference reports, background check records, and end-of-year reporting. The Assistant supports church programs with communication materials, manages benevolence requests, and maintains records of community resources.
The position offers $20 per hour for 20 hours per week.
